Having extracted all the food value it can from the twig, the Muskrat turns to swim back to its home. The tail, below, leaves no doubt as to what kind of furry creature this is, or why it is so named.
This black Fox Squirrel was an unexpected surprise near the Killbuck Wetlands. Black Fox Squirrels are common in some communities, but not in Anderson. This is the first one we've seen in several years.
The brown Fox Squirrel is more common. There are dozens in Shadyside Park where the many oak and walnut trees provide ample food for them. The one below is cracking a walnut.
