Florida Birds

This Osprey is looking for a place to eat the fish that it is grasping in its left talon. The tail of the fish can be seen hanging down below the branches.

Here it is eating the fish. This branch is about fifty feet above the water. Ospreys like high places and often build their nests in the very top of trees or on tall power poles.

The Osprey is keeping a close watch for fear another bird will try to take away the fish. It has good reason to be wary; we watched it steal this fish from a Cormorant that had just caught it.

This is an adult Eurasian Collared-Dove. They were introduced into North America from Europe.
