Feeder Birds II

A Tufted Titmouse, with its large eyes, has come to the peanut feeder for a snack. It shares with the Cardinal a tuft of feathers on the head.

After many years with none, we now have at least two Red-breasted Nuthatches in Madison County. This one has been coming to our feeders since mid-fall and Mick Hardy has sent us pictures of a second one near his home.

A Carolina Wren looks about carefully before turning its attention to the task of digging a peanut out of the feeder.

Also looking carefully is this squirrel. Not being able to fly up to the feeders, it is reduced to searching among the husks that the birds drop for an occasional seed or nut.
