These turtles have climbed onto a log to warm themselves in the October sun. Soon it will be time for them to burrow into the mud at the bottom of the pond where they will hibernate without the benefit of food, air, or sun, until next spring.
Mick Hardy discovered this Praying Mantis climbing up the outside of a window on his house one October day. The Mantis preys on other insects and helps keep down the population of pests.
