Great Egrets

Last month we were surprised by a Great Egret that was passing through. This month we discovered not one but two Great Egrets one day in the Killbuck Wetlands. Here is the larger of the two. Note the duck and Killdeer to the left of the Egret, near the water.

The smaller of the two Egrets was actively fishing when we first spotted it.

The larger Egret was not friendly toward his relative and chased it off a coveted perch soon after it landed there, below. Both Egrets moved on the next day.
