These sibling Wood Ducks have known only the Killbuck Wetlands as home since they were hatched. The young female is on the left with her "spectacles" while the male is on the right. Soon, they will gather with other Wood Ducks to migrate south for the winter.
By next spring, this male will have acquired the colorful "harlequin" plumage for which Wood Ducks are justly famous.
Here, he balances on one leg while resting the other.
Meanwhile, a Great Blue Heron scans the Wetlands for dinner.
